celebrating love for digital products -
made for students by students.
Spring 2021 Online, Fall 2021 at CODE campus, Berlin
Unicon's lifeblood are the participants. Unicon offers speeches, workshops and other exiting events, but in the end, Unicon is Unicon because 100 people with inspiring ideas come together to exchange, collaborate and network. Since this is a situation that has become largely unimaginable over the course of the last year, we have come up with a new approach. We have decided to split the entire conference into three simultaneous micro-conferences. These micro-conferences are each focused around a certain topic, with dedicated speakers and workshops.
Cities are growing relentlessly, becoming denser and denser in the process. This poses enormous challenges to our existing transportation systems and infrastructure. As streets and trains get busier and people spend more and more time on their commute, we are in desperate need of more efficient and sustainable alternatives and current attempts to innovate urban mobility have left us tripping over broken e-scooters and shared bikes. We need to enable everyone to have fair and equal access to our cities, whilst keeping them functioning and livable. Do you want to help shape the future of mobility, exchange ideas and get inspired? Join us at our mobility micro-conference.
In a world of endless growth, it is important to take a step back and realise that infinite growth cannot happen on a planet with finite resources. Humanity has known this for 50 years, but it is only now that we start seeing the consequences of our actions. It is also only now, that the generation that has to live with a destroyed planet is beginning to have a foothold in our educational and economic systems. To start making up for the 50 years of wasted time we would like to dedicate one of our micro-conferences to this vastly important topic.
Our world is ever evolving, but one pillar of our society that has remained mostly unchanged since its inception, is our education system. Combined with the struggles of online learning we all have to endure in these times, we see enormous potential to innovate and grow. At CODE, we have first hand experience that there are functioning alternatives to the traditional education system and would like to take this opportunity to broaden the discussion and encourage you to bring new ideas and solutions to the table.
We invite renowned speakers to talk about their personal experiences with developing digital products and working in the tech industry. Last year’s speakers included CXOs from Trivago, Project A Ventures, Outfittery and Blinkist. For unicon 2021, we have convinced amazing entrepreneurs to join us - which we will announce step by step.
The participants are one of the most essential aspects of unicon. We want to make sure to invite students that have similar interests but are at the same time diverse in their backgrounds and skills. Besides, we will create natural networking opportunities so that it is easy to connect with one another.
To combine the diverse skills of our attendees, we will organize a group challenge in which they collaborate for four hours in small teams. The goal is to come up with a solution concept for a specific problem and pitch this to a jury and the other participants Each group consists of software engineers, business people and designers.
To enable close contact to industry leaders with high credibility and many years of experience as well as hands on deep dives, we will organise several masterclasses and workshops about specific topics regarding digital product development.
Our goal when choosing speakers is always to ensure a big variety in topics, as well as backgrounds. We are not only looking at the companies they have founded or worked for, but also what they have experienced and what parts of those experiences can support us - as students. For this year, we’ve been in contact with many great people and are happy to share our first speakers, coming from various fields and backgrounds. We’re super excited to meet and learn from them soon.

Every year, we’re partnering up with several companies to make the experience as exciting as possible - for all attendees as well as our partners. They can contribute with workshops, given by industry experts, by doing job interviews or just being there for an exchange of thoughts.
